Non-degradable tableware can be recycled environmentally friendly

The State Environmental Protection Administration recently approved the "Technical Requirements for Certification of Environmental Labeling for Disposable Tableware". For the first time, "requirements" stipulate that disposable tableware that is not easy to degrade but is easy to recycle can also be used as an environmental labeling product. This is a major breakthrough and important supplement to the previous national policy on disposable tableware. At the same time, this requirement also removes biodegradable foam tableware from environmental labeling products.
The new environmental labeling certification technical requirements for the "easy to recycle" definition is: the product is not easily degradable, but has a mature regeneration processing technology, the establishment of a recycling system should reach a certain scale. In other words, environmental disposables can be applied to disposable tableware made from materials that are easy to recycle, with a recycling rate of at least 75%.
This requirement, numbered “HBC1-2001”, refers to relevant national standards such as food packaging, food (drinks), and disposable biodegradable tableware that have already been promulgated. Another difference between the new requirements and the original technical requirements is that the degradable foamed tableware will no longer be allowed to apply for environmental labels, which is consistent with the relevant provisions of the State Economic and Trade Commission prohibiting the use of disposable foam plastic lunch boxes.
The new requirement says that disposable cutlery does not contain disposable foam plastic tableware. Its logo products are divided into three categories: biodegradable, such as paper products (including paper pulp molded type, cardboard coated type), edible powder molded type , plant fiber molding, etc.; photobiodegradable materials, such as light-biodegradable plastics (non-foaming) type; easily recycled materials, such as polypropylene (PP), high-impact polystyrene ( HIPS), biaxially stretched polystyrene sheet products, and composites filled with high-input natural inorganic mineral-filled polypropylene.
It is reported that the new technology requirements have been verified by experts and are currently in force. Its release points the way for the development of environmentally friendly disposable tableware.
