U.S. shared bikes get $10 million in financing

In 2016, shared cycling became the hottest investment area in the country, and it has recently received attention in the United States.

Last week, Zagster, a US cycling start-up company, announced that it had received a round of US$10 million in round B financing. The lead investor was from Edison Partners, a U.S. venture company that focuses on technology solutions.

The Zagster, which was founded in 2012, has so far received $20 million in financing.

Just like the domestic shared bicycles, users can see the nearby bicycles through the mobile phone and obtain the unlock password from the App.

However, its unlocking design is relatively complicated, and mainly based on pile parking.

It uses a key unlock method. This key is placed on the back seat box. The password to open it is obtained by entering the car number through the app.

In addition, in order to meet the needs of some users temporarily locking the car, it also designed a fixed steel cable on the vehicle body. If the user wants to go to the supermarket temporarily while riding, he can use the cable to fix the bicycle on the nearby object. on.

At present, Zagster's main launch market is not in the top 15 cities in the United States, but in small and medium-sized cities, as well as universities, enterprise parks and residential areas.

It mainly does To B's business. Among Zagster's more than 150 partners, there are large companies like General Motors and Salesforce. The partner pays Zagster each month according to the number of vehicles, which is $150 per vehicle per month. Zagster provides bicycle maintenance, advertising, and app development services.

The company’s CEO, Ericson, said the company’s current revenue is in the millions. After the new financing is in place, they will use the money for market expansion. By the end of this year, he expects revenues to reach 10 million U.S. dollars.

In September of this year, it cooperated with Zipcar, a US-based time-sharing leasing company, to launch the Zibbike project. Users at colleges can make reservations directly with Zagster's shared bikes via Zipcar. Currently Zipcar's services already cover more than 500 universities in the United States.

In November last year, the third North American shared bike conference was held in Austin, United States, to explore related business models. According to the president of the North American Shared Bicycle Association, nearly 100 cities in the United States now have similar projects, of which the development of medium-sized cities is better than that of big cities such as New York and Chicago.

In the United States, the majority of shared bicycles still use public bicycles.
