Strictly sealed sheets not only make the furniture look more beautiful, but also feel smoother, and can effectively control the release of formaldehyde in the board, making our kitchen more green. But the edge banding is often not valued by consumers.

Consumers who don't know how to do this will be sloppy. The cabinet body and the edge band are closely attached and the sealing performance is good, which can effectively reduce the release of formaldehyde. But the edge-sealing technology is not good, how should we identify it?

The quality of the edge banding can be felt by touching it.

The sealing edge of high-quality cabinets is delicate, smooth and feels good. The inferior edge sealing is just the opposite. Some edge strips are more fragile, one fold will break, and the toughness edge strips are not easy to break, and can also reduce the release of formaldehyde. .

Common edge banding and features

Wooden edge banding

The above-mentioned good natural birch, oak, maple, eucalyptus, cherry wood and other wood, machined and cut into the wooden sheet edge banding. Wood grain is natural, soft, invariant, and has strong adhesion when pasted.

PVC edge banding

A wood grain, transparent, plain, two-color series of plastic edge banding made of polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride. It has the characteristics of heat resistance, oil resistance and strength, hardness and high bendability; its surface properties are good, wear-resistant and can be repaired;

Melamine edge banding

The high-quality colored base paper is printed with various wood patterns, flowers, leather patterns, marble patterns and other artistic patterns (or pure colors), and then the cured paper edge banding is impregnated with modified melamine grease.

ABS edge banding

The ABS edge seal that was introduced in detail before is one of the most advanced materials in the world. The edge band made of it is not doped with calcium carbonate. After trimming, it is bright and smooth, and there will be no whitish phenomenon.

How to judge high quality edge banding?

1 Check whether the back side of the edge band is flat. You can use a flat blade to clamp the edge band horizontally to see if it is straight. If it is not straight, there will be a thick glue line on both sides after sealing.

2 Check whether the surface of the edge band is smooth and flat, and there are no impurities. If there are any spots or fine needle holes, it may be made of recycled PVC.

3 If the side of the sheet is evenly trimmed after trimming, if it appears jagged, it may be as follows: The trimming knife is too blunt; the edge strip is too hard; the edge strip contains too much calcium carbonate;

4 Use nails or other tools to draw on the edge banding. If there is damage, the surface wear resistance and hardness of the edge band shall not meet the standard, and the quality of the edge band shall be unqualified;

5 Check whether the saw surface of the plate is flat. If the saw blade is not the same as the saw blade, the saw blade has a small step when it is sawn, which affects the edge seal;

6 Check if the hot melt coating is too thick;

7 Check whether the thickness and pressure of the edge banding machine are adjusted;

8 Use a small length of edge banding to seal the edge, then forcefully tear it to check whether the bond strength between the edge band and the hot melt is reasonable and uniform. If the strength is not enough, check whether the hot melt temperature of the edge banding machine meets the standard of use.
