[Abstract] An edge sealer for a shrink wrapper includes a closed loop temperature controller for the heater to maintain the optimal temperature for cutting and sealing the two thermoplastic films. The heater includes a cable or cartridge heater with an internal thermocouple and it is connected to an automatic temperature controller. The heater is mounted between the two sets of V-belts at the top and bottom to the edge seals, which are mounted around the drive and idler rollers. The V-belt applies a clamping pressure to the film to drive the film. In one embodiment, the nip pressure is generated using a nip roll located on the side of the film slice, and the low friction belt on the film wrap side supports the guide plate. In another embodiment, the belt support guide plate is replaced with a series of upper and lower nip rollers, and the adjustable hinge clamp provides adjustable pressure on the upper and lower nip roller families.
