Application of SHQ Quartz Tube Heating Element in Drying of Anti-corrosion Coatings for Packaging Containers

Our factory is a manufacturer of three kinds of fixed-point metal products packaging, including provincial packaging company, provincial chemical import and export company, and Wuhan Chemical Import and Export Corporation. It is responsible for the main production tasks of export packaging containers in the province. It produces 16 to 200 liters of metal packaging products of various specifications up to 16 varieties. These products are mainly used for packaging chemical and pharmaceutical products that are flammable, explosive and corrosive. And other dangerous goods. Over the years, we have spent a lot of money to solve the corrosion of chemical products on metal surfaces and to prevent deterioration of chemical products. For example, how to stabilize and strengthen the anti-corrosion coating on the inner and outer surfaces of the metal barrel, we used the surface coating process of epoxy 609 and PVF coatings. Since 1985, we have used PVF new coatings with the cooperation of relevant research departments, which have satisfactory results for various chemical products. However, it requires the application of a continuous baking oven, and the optimum film forming temperature is 230 ° C - 280 ° C. In response to this situation, we made a φ5mm thick electric furnace wire into three spring-shaped electric furnace wires with a length of 16m. A continuous drying chamber with a length of 16.4m and a width of 12m was built. Its total power is 220kw, and the starting current is more than 400A. After nearly one year of use, the quality of the product not only failed to meet the predetermined requirements, but also exposed many drawbacks.
1. It consumes a lot of electricity and has a large starting current. As soon as the furnace is turned on, the voltage of other equipment is too low to be produced.
2. Slow heating. It takes 1.30 hours for the epoxy process to heat up to 130-160 °C. The PVF coating process only reaches 240 °C at the highest temperature of 3 m in the middle of the furnace, and the furnace has only about 150 °C at both ends, so production cannot be guaranteed.
3. The heat radiation capability in the furnace is poor. The temperature uniformity and transmission in the furnace are poor, resulting in the closer the resistance wire, the higher the temperature. The workpiece that cannot be rotated in the oven has a partial burnt phenomenon and cannot guarantee the quality of the product.
4. Not safe. Because the resistance wire is exposed, the combustible gas evaporated in the furnace is easy to burn and explode, which is very unsafe. Every time a production is carried out, the workers are afraid of accidents.
5. Short life and not easy to repair. Since the resistance wire is exposed, it is often in contact with chemical gas, so that it is often oxidized and corroded, so that it is easily broken after a period of time. Due to the high furnace wave, the repairman cannot repair it in time, and the repair is complicated. Once the production breaks, the production has to be stopped.
6. The furnace temperature does not reach the process temperature of some coatings. For example, the new coating PVF coatings that are now being promoted nationwide cannot be produced.
Due to the above drawbacks in the electric wire drying room, in order to make PVF new coating meet the needs of chemical import and export in our province, we must seek a more advanced and energy-saving heating element. In 1986, the Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Industry invited the press conference to learn about the SHQ quartz tube heating element produced by the Taizhou Quartz Glass Electric Heater Factory in Jiangsu Province. It saves time, energy and heats up. The factory dispatched a technical inspection team in time. Through the visit and inspection, repeated comparison tests were carried out to decide to renovate the drying room. With the assistance of the relevant research department, the construction of the drying room was completed in December 1986, and only one month was completed. The total capacity of the drying chamber is 200kw. The drying chamber has a total length of 24m and a width of 1.4m. The maximum furnace temperature can reach 340 °C. Compared with the original electric wire drying room:
1. Power saving. When the drying chamber is fully started, the current is 320A, and the voltage is not significantly reduced. But it does not affect the normal operation of other equipment.
2, save time, warm up quickly. It takes only 0.45 hours from start-up to normal production temperature of 230 ° C to 260 ° C.
3. Energy saving. The power of the two furnaces is 200kw at the same time, but the volume in the furnace is increased by 50%. In fact, it is equal to 50% energy saving, and the temperature is increased by 100 °C.
4. Safety Since the resistance wire is in a high-temperature resistant quartz tube, this avoids the flammable factor of the combustible gas, and therefore, since the start of production, there has never been a combustion or explosion accident.
5. long life. Since the new roasting furnace, our factory has never been damaged, and we have not found any damage to the SHQ components.
6. Due to the high emissivity of the quartz tube and the uniform temperature, the film forming conditions of the coating are superior. Therefore, the quality of the paint film of the metal container baked by it is detected by the paint adhesion tester, which is one level, so the product is in the user. Obtained a high reputation and occupied the province's chemical import and export container packaging market.
