France: The world's first full-PP material chocolate box is available

Cosfibel Creative Packaging of France designed the world's first chocolate packaging with all-PP (polypropylene) materials. This is a re-sealable, reusable plastic case. It has been used to package Finesses de Chocolat chocolates from Révillon Chocolatier. Cosfibel company sources said that in today's chocolate packaging field, the use of plastic materials is becoming more and more frequent. Because of its outstanding transparency, people prefer PET and PVC packaging. Therefore, PET and PVC packaging containers are more common in the market, but PP packaging must not be overlooked in the packaging market.

New packaging aids product differentiation

The Révillon Chocolatier's new product packaging is a drawer-style packaging container with an 80-micron-thick rigid PP drawer inside, with two hollow cavities, each containing a thermoformed PP material tray. To hold the chocolate product, the outer packaging is a 50 micron thick PP material shell.

This all-PP material box is manufactured by Roskoplast, a subsidiary of the Cosfibel Group. The PP material housing is printed using a combination of two printing methods, and UV offset printing is used to print the full-color pattern of the package. In addition, gilt effects are printed on the outer surface of the package using screen printing. The combination of the two printing methods produces a very beautiful package that is dazzling and has a striking impact on the shelf, helping Révillon Chocolatier differentiate its products.

Cosfibel company optimistic

Cosfibel actively develops the chocolate packaging market and expects to enhance its competitiveness and will be able to make more achievements in this area in the future. In terms of production costs, the company’s sales manager Bertrand Chassagne said: “If we use raw materials produced in Europe, our packaging manufacturing costs are about 20% more expensive than the relevant cardboard packaging, so we are increasingly buying from the Far East PP material, in this way, our packaging manufacturing costs only about 10% more expensive than the relevant cardboard packaging, and compared with the cardboard material packaging, PP packaging material products are more attractive, good touch, and has excellent printable performance."
